PROTECTING VULNERABLE WORKERS. SANT'ANNA SCHOOL SCHOLARS PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL SEMINAR SPONSORED BY LAVOROPERLAPERSONA FOUNDATION

How compatible are health programs with occupational safety? How can we protect health, dignity and autonomy of vulnerable workers? The seminar “Il lavoro che si prende cura. Storie. Ricerche. Pratiche” sponsored by the  Lavoroperlapersona Foundation will be held virtually on 18-20 September 2020. In cooperation with  Sant’Anna School, Telethon Foundation  and the Cnel- Italian Council for  Economics and Labour, professor Silvestro Micera (Sant’Anna School – Neuroengineering), professor Calogero Oddo, (Sant’Anna School – Neuro-Robotic Touch Lab) and researcher Simona Crea (Wearable Robotics Lab) will discuss the extent to which workers may be vulnerable to occupational health while responding to COVID-19 disease and safety risks.

“In addressing COVID-19 in the workplace and the need for urgent action by governments to safeguard workers more than economic growth and profit, our Lavoroperlapersona Foundation gathers leading experts and researchers to discuss the changing world of work and occupational health in dealing  with pandemics outbreaks and extreme events. The culture of illness prevention together with a high awareness in responding to COVID-19 and strengthening resilience for sustainable workplaces are our main goals.  We aim to identify vulnerable sectors and assess the effectiveness of interventions. We think that our must prioritize the solidarity at work. Strong social protection systems are critical to protect the most vulnerable. We think democratic rights, social justice and worker wellbeing will contribute directly to profitability.”, said Gabriele Gabrielli, president of Lavorperlapersona Foundation.

Seminars and workshops are scheduled as follows: Friday, 18 September: “La luce che attraversa la fragilità”; Saturday, 19 September: “Le abilità ricreate. Quando accoglienza e tecnologia rigenerano lavoro per le imprese e la società” and “La malattia tra lavoro e ricerca: un incontro generativo per molti”; Sunday, 20 September: “Le fragilità, occasioni per ripensare il lavoro”.

  • Friday, 18 September 2020, 6.00 pm, topic “La luce che attraversa e fragilità”, moderator Maria Cristina Origlia. Speakers Luigi Alici (University of Macerata and Scuola Superiore Giacomo Leopardi), Angelo Davide Galeati, President of CARISAP, Giovanna Melandri (MAXXI and Human Foundation), Federica Saiola (Jobs Group – World Bank).
  • Saturday, 19 September 2020, 10.30 am, speaker Silvestro Micera (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), moderator Calogero Oddo (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna) will discuss “Ripartire dalla fragilità per stare bene al lavoro”, with Marco Bentivogli (Commissione Mise Ai), Simona Crea (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna - IUVO srl), Lorenzo De Michieli (IIT Genova), Emanuele Gruppioni (INAIL Budrio), Loredana Zollo (Campus Bio Medico).
  • Saturday, 19 September 2020, 5.30 pm, speaker Silvia Profili (University Europea di Roma) will give her lecture moderated by Laura Innocenti. Keynote speakers will include also Alessia Sammarra (University of L’Aquila), (LUISS Guido Carli – Lavoroperlapersona), and Elisabetta Iannelli (AIMAC), Daniele Piacentini (Fondazione Gemelli), Pierangelo Scappini (Poste Italiane), and Iliana Totaro (Enel).
  • Sunday, 20 September 2020, 6.00 pm, topic “Le fragilità, occasioni per ripensare il lavoro” speaker Fabrizio D’Aniello (University of Macerata). Moderator Asmae Dachan with speakers Luciana Delle Donne (Made in Carcere), Giulio Montanari (Borsa Merci Telematica Italiana), Antonio Pelosi (Albergo Etico Roma), Tiziano Treu, president of Cnel, and Gabriele Gabrielli, president of Lavoroperlapersona Foundation, will discuss “Coltivare l’umano per generare il lavoro”.

“Robotics and neuro-prosthetics will have a huge impact on our future lives – said Silvestro Micera –Robots will extend the capabilities of workers and people with disabilities. Universities need to collaborate with industry, and researchers need to build a network of collaborations. We believe that strong connections and high scientific performance will drive the future of robotics for humans.”

Programming highlights will include keynotes and digital spaces for filmmakers Giovanni Panozzo and Ruben Lagattolla providing a platform for their latest releases.
